Privacy Policy
Effective: June 2, 2026
Groundhold Inc. ("Groundhold," "we," "us," or "our") is a nonprofit social welfare organization. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we contact you, and the choices you have. By interacting with us, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us and information we obtain from public sources, partners, and the platforms we use to reach people. This includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address or ZIP code, phone number, social media or messaging handles, and a record of your communications with us. As our programs and outreach evolve, we may collect additional information for the purposes described below.
How we use your information
We use your information for purposes such as contacting you about our work, running our civic engagement and organizing programs, responding to you, improving our outreach, keeping records, and meeting legal requirements, as well as other related purposes consistent with this policy.
How we contact you
We may contact you by email, phone, text message, and through social media or messaging apps such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and similar services. We send text messages through standard messaging channels, including toll-free, 10-digit long code, and short code numbers.
If you receive text messages from us, message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out of texts or HELP for help. Opting out of texts will not affect any other interactions you have with us. Each platform we use to reach you has its own terms and privacy policy that govern your use of that platform.
Your mobile phone number and text-messaging opt-in information are not shared with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and we do not sell that information.
How we share information
We may share information with vendors and service providers who help us operate (for example, texting platforms, email tools, and data services), with partner and aligned organizations that support our mission, and when required by law or to protect our rights or safety. We do not sell your personal information for money. The limits on your mobile and text-messaging information described above always apply.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it (sometimes called the "right to be forgotten"), to opt out of certain sharing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA, and residents of states such as Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut have similar rights.
To make a request, submit our online privacy request form or email us at privacy@groundhold.org. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law. When you ask us to delete your information, we will also take reasonable steps to direct our service providers and any third parties that received it to delete it, subject to the exceptions the law allows. Some information may be retained where the law allows or requires it.
Children's privacy
Our work and outreach are intended for adults. We do not direct our outreach to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@groundhold.org and we will delete it.
Data retention and security
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and we use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will post the new effective date here; we review it at least once a year. Questions or requests:
